We have two Macs with fast processors and plenty of memory.
They run desktop publishing software and a small number of scientific programs:

Adobe products: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc.

One of our Macs has an EPSON Expression 1680 1600x3200 dpi color scanner which features 48-bit color (over 281 trillion colors), 16-bit gray (65,536 shades) and accepts any original including reflective media up to 8.5" x 11.7".

This is a flatbed scanner which can be used to scan color or black+white images to optical(true) resolution of 2400 dots per inch(dpi). There is a "Save For One Month" folder for you to temporarily store scanned images. We recommend you transfer your data as soon as possible since this folder is not backed up.

Instructions are on the scanner cover.
